Subject: Lip movement by register.

Several list members took exception to this statement. This is one of the most basic ideas connected with trumpet playing. Everyone  from Farkas to Reinhardt has written about it.

The lip movement for the double high register are 1/64th as big as the lip movements in the pedal register.

Take a look at a guitar. Play an open string and then put your finger in the center and play it again. That 12" finger movement was 1 octave. If you slide the finger up 6" you have your next  octave. If you slide your finger up 3" you have the next octave. Notice how each octave has half the movement of the one lower than it.

The same thing happens when playing the trumpet.

Each octave requires half of the embouchure change (lip movement) that the one below it needed.

For the ease of numbers lets say that the lip movement for a double pedal C is 16 feet.
The rest go like this:

Double Pedal C   =  64 inches
Pedal C          =  32 inches
Low C            =  16 inches
3rd space C      =   8 inches
High C           =   4 inches
Double High C    =   2 inches
Triple High C    =   1 inch
The lip movement for the high registers are 1/64th as big as the lip
movements in the pedal registers.

Just plain Science fact.
