Abblasen by Gottfried Reiche (1667-1734)

Gottfried Reiche composed 122 Abblasen-Stücken, but only a single Abblasen has survived. It is depicted in the 1727 portrait of Reiche by Leipzig artist E. G. Haussmann. The Abblasen Fanfare is used on the CBS Sunday Morning show first played by Don Smithers (on natural trumpet) then by Doc Severinsen and now (2004) by Wynton Marsalis (both last players used a piccolo trumpet).
