Recordings with "Bud" Herseth
 

With CSO:
Except for a few (where Assistant Principal played), Bud played on all the CSO records (where there are trumpet parts) for 53 years! Several recordings with Mahler Symphonies, Also Sprach Zarathustra, Picture from an Exibition etc.,etc.

      Specific spots in the Reiner CSO recordings in which Herseth shines the most:

Brass ensemble with Herseth playing a prominent role:
Rimski: Scheherazade: Fourth Movment: the second of the three similar brass interludes
Strauss: Electra, scattered moments during the second half of the second side of the record
Strauss: Don Juan (earlier of the two recordings), a couple of brief measures
Mussorgsky: Pictures at an Exhibtion:
          1) Catacombs
          2) Marketplace: some stuff that passes by pretty quickly including the last couple of measures
Mussorgsky: Night on bald mountain (scattered here and there)
Tchaikovsky: Nutcracker: a few passing momebnts in the March of the soldiers movement
Tchaikovsky: Sixth Symphony: First Movement (various climaxes in the movement)
Mahler: Fourth Symphony: First Movement (two of the big climaxes in the development section and the very last few notes)
Debussy: Iberia: First movement: just after the unison for horns and clarinets
Wagner: Sigfried's Rhine Journey
Solo trumpet:
Hovhanness: Mysterious Mountain
Stravinsky: Song of the Nightingale, first of the two slow trumpet solos
Mahler: Das Lied von der Erde: first movement: midway: trumpet solo
2 Trumpets:
Rossini: William Tell Overture: opening of the last part
