Recordings with "Bud" Herseth

With CSO:
Except for a few (where Assistant Principal played), Bud played on all the CSO records (where there are trumpet parts) for 53 years! Several recordings with Mahler Symphonies, Also Sprach Zarathustra, Picture from an Exibition etc.,etc.

The Hummel Trumpet Concerto (with Solti, CSO 1983) is available on a CSO radiothon cd.
Bach's Brandenburg No. 2 was recorded with Solti in London but never released.
Bach's Brandenburg No. 2 is on an unreleased video with Reiner (1962) from WGN.
Handel Messiah with Solti, recorded 1984, reissued on CD 1990 (Decca 414 396 - 2) - Herseth on "The Trumpet Shall Sound"

Concert in Brass (Audiophile AP-21) 1954 - which features the Chicago Symphony Brass Ensemble with Herseth and Reynold Schilke on trumpet, Hugh Cowden horn, Frank Crisafulli trombone and Arnold Jacobs on tuba. The A side of the LP is old music: Reiche, Beethoven, Gabrieli, Weelkes, J.S Bach. B-side is more contemporary music: Hindermith, Haines, Zindars, Lebow

There was a recording in CBS's Music From Ravinia series on which Bud plays L'Histoire du Soldat.
There is a Deutsche Gramophone recording with Bud playing the Haydn with the Chicago Symphony. Claudio Abbado conducting. Also on the disk are Mozart's concerti for horn (Dale Clevenger), oboe (Ray Still), and bassoon (Willard Elliot). (Deutsche Grammophon 415 104-2.)
A recording of Brandenburg No. 2, with the CSO and James Levine, featuring Samuel Magad (vn), Donald Peck (fl), and Ray Still. The disk also contains Brandeburg #5 and Cantata #202 with Kathleen Battle but no Bud. (RCA Gold Seal 09026-61365-2. )
Mr. Herseth played the first part on Oskar Bohme's Sextet in E flat Minor with The Asbury Brass Quintet. The CD is on Albany Records, Troy273.
