DAILY ROUTINE: Part 3

Following the scales, it's time to move onto the Clarke Technical Studies:

Starting with the first studies, follow this process:

1. Play all slurred.
2. Play all single tongued.
3. Play all double tongued.
4. Play all triple tongued (it changes the rhythmic figures to sextuplets, but do it anyway)
5. Slur two, tongue two, slur two.
6. Tongue two, slur two, tongue two.
7. Slur four, tongue two.
8. Tongue four, slur two.
9. Tongue one, slur two through the rest of the exercise.
10. Tongue one, slur two, tongue one.
11. Play all *Q*'s (*k*'s)
12. Play *QTQT*
13. Play *QTTQTT*

Also play these up an octave where you can, using the same tonguing approach as above.

Clarke Technical Studies, 2nd Exercises:

1. Play all slurred.
2. Play all single tongued.
3. Play all double tongued.
4. Slur two, tongue two
5. Tongue two, slur two
6. Slur three, tongue one
7. Tongue four, slur two
8. Tongue one, slur two through the rest of the exercise
9. Tongue one, slur two, tongue one
10. Play all *Q*'s (*k*'s)
11. Play *QTQT*

Continue this process through the third and fourth and fifth studies as you have time (to the total time you've allotted to technical practice, which should be at least 30 minutes, but no more than 90 minutes)....

Take a break equal to the time you've been practicing....
