Eddie Lewis: "Daily Routines"


"Daily Routines" by Eddie Lewis, is a collection of seven routines designed for trumpet players of all levels.  The routines are based on the concept of his first book called the "Physical Trumpet Pyramid".

AIR, the bottom level:
Each group start with the following comment: "Always remember to do air exercises before you begin your lip buzz"
In "Physical Trumpet Pyramid" a whole chapter called AIR, gives 5 examples of different air exercises.

The routine includes:

Progessive routines:
The routines progress in length, difficulty and range. "Group One" is the easiest routine and "Group Seven" is the most advanced.

"Group One" is limited to the range between tuning "C" and low "F#" while "Group Seven" covers a range of three octaves, from low "F#" to the "G" above high "C".

Practice pattern:
One of the important principle in the method is to alter what group one play, from day to day. Eddie suggest
a pattern of a medium day, a hard day and a very light day (+ one day with rest).

The first line in the chart (only Group 1) can be used by absolute beginners, the last (including Group 7) is for experienced professionals.
